Hi All

Arrived Southport Yacht Club Sunday afternoon. Strong breeze and current made it too difficult to berth so Perie at anchor near the Southport YC … about 200m away. Got the dinghy inflated and outboard attached. Motor to the marina and had a meal. Crowded, dinner hour. Not much boating action but a lot of meals … suspect most not members. Generous meals. Got a flash big, typical Queensland fish and chips with salad.

Very windy following north wind Saturday night. Behind Fraser Island which glowed with the fires. Lots of smoke. Anchored overnight … very shallow and lots of smoke so waited until daylight.

Real yuk crossing WIDE BAY BAR but only took 3/4 horrible hour.

Waves cresting and breaking over the boat … got sopping wet.

All clear then with a following northerly. Boat speed 8kts!

I waited until this morning to get a berth when the office opened. Possibly be here until Monday so will let a southerly pass. Then sail to Coffs Harbour or maybe direct to Sydney.

Anyway all is A1 good.

Kindest regards

Jon
