Voyage Blog: Sunday 10 January 2021

Hi All

Gosh, I just woke up. Its Sunday morning. I am tied up in a pen at the Albany Waterfront Marina. The weather has deteriorated overnight. I’m glad I am not battling these 25kt SW winds trying to dock.

I arrived last night about 21.30. The weather was so calm. I motored in and there were so many vacant pens … didn’t expect that. Thought everyone with a boat would be holidaying in their boat. COVID means holidays at home so no travel to other states and definitely not Bali.

Tying up was easy … some local folk were on the jetty to help. Wow, what nice people they are. They were gone before I could really thank them. Maybe I did thank them. Gosh, I cant remember … I was so tired. Then before I could get off to sleep Morgan appeared. He drove from Perth (about 500kms) to welcome me to WA.

I stayed well clear of everyone. I didn’t get off the yacht and no one came aboard … social distancing rules.

I have a G2G Pass to enter WA but will wait to see what WA Police say about quarantine. I hope they recognise my 17 days alone at sea for a quarantine exemption.

Albany is a truly nice place. I always like arriving here. I will wait to hear from WA Police. The rain and wind mean sitting it out in the cabin.

Kindest regards

Jon
