Voyage Blog: Wednesday 06 January 2021

Hi All

My yacht barometer is high, 1033hPa.  The wind is mild 10kts ESE.  Gradual swell is from SW … not big.  Indicators suggests all is mild.  I suspect the wind is fresh on the coast.

Nearest land is about 210/220nm north from my current position.

Today is Wednesday, 0930 hours.

Esperance is 277nm from here and Princess Royal Hbr Albany is 434nm from here.

ETA Albany next Sunday in 4 days, about midday, 10 January (this year) … subject to no westerly in between. (The big High better buzz off for that to happen).

All is good.  Rather, very good.

Yesterday I sailed across longitude 129 degrees east.  Many, many miles to the north in the Great Australian Bight 129 degrees is the demarcation of the border between South Australian B and Western Australian.

Me thought, then, I’ve just passed The Point of No Return.

The ABC radio – I can fetch it all hours on my transmitter, all along the coast, and at this moment I’m waiting for Donald Trump to get gazzumped. (He doesnt care who he gazzumps).

I’m looking forward to sighting the West Australian coastline.  I will berth at Albany for WA entry protocols and probably another COVID test. I will wait for good weather to round Cape Leeuwin before on to Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club for a short break. Then on the final leg home to Fremantle.

Kindest regards to all

Jon
